Dr. Dunning is board certified in Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, and Endovascular Medicine. He joined Virginia Cardiovascular Consultants in January 2020 after practicing for 24 years in Michigan and Arizona. He has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating cardiac and vascular diseases, specializing in both coronary artery disease (CAD) and peripheral artery disease (PAD), abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (Triple-A), carotid artery stenting, and venous interventions including thrombus removal and thrombolysis of blood clots. Dr. Dunning also treats congenital heart conditions by closing Atrial Septal Defects (ASD) and Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO). His passion is to educate his patients. He wants them to understand the interventions used to treat their disease as well as teach them healthy lifestyle habits for prevention.

Our team at Virginia Cardiovascular Consultants is very pleased to announce the opening of their new offices at Pogonia Medical Arts Building, 4604 Spotsylvania Parkway, Suite 310, Fredericksburg, as they continue to provide compassionate, quality cardiovascular care to the Fredericksburg community. We will continue to schedule office appointments, stress echo and nuclear testing at the current location of 1201 Sam Perry Boulevard until the construction of the rest of the new offices and facilities is finished and VCC completes relocating all its offices and testing facilities to the Pogonia Medical Arts Building this spring.
As of January 3, 2023, Dr. Harish Chandra, Dr. Dennis Dunning and their team of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners will see patients at both offices. They will provide the full scope of interventional cardiovascular procedures exclusively at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. Dr. Chandra will also treat patients at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond, as needed. VCC is recruiting additional electrophysiologists. Dr. Henry Clemo, VCC electrophysiologist who founded this service at VCC plans to retire in 18 months. He and his team of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants will continue to see patients at the 1201 Sam Perry Boulevard, Suite 220, until VCC relocates all its offices and testing facilities in the spring of 2023. Then he and his team will continue to provide their electrophysiology patient care services at the new VCC facilities.
